FY23 Surface+ Offer FAQ

All FY23 Surface+ Offers are ending on June 30, 2023, and will not be renewed.  All Qualifying Surface Device Purchases under the Offers must be completed by June 30, 2023.  Rebate claims must be submitted within 60 days of the end customer invoice date.  The last day to submit a FY23 Surface+ Offer rebate claim is August 30, 2023.

What is the difference between the offers?

  • FY23 Surface+ Offer for Microsoft Customers – Worldwide (excluding AU, CA, JP, NZ, UK, and US) is a thru partner offer and is valid for eligible devices acquired by eligible end customers via a qualifying purchase or via a qualifying lease or DaaS transaction.
  • FY23 Surface+ Offer AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Customers is a direct to Customer offer and is valid only for eligible devices acquired by eligible end customers via a qualifying purchase. In the US, public sector customers are not eligible for this offer.
  • FY23 Surface+ Offer for US Public Sector Customers is a localized, thru-partner promotion and is valid for eligible devices acquired by eligible public sector customers (includes Major and Minor Public Sector, SMC-Government, and SMC-EDU Customers) via a qualifying purchase or via a qualifying lease or DaaS transaction.   • FY23 Surface+ Offer for Leasing AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Leasing Customers is a thru partner offer and is valid only for eligible devices acquired by eligible customers via a qualifying lease or DaaS transaction. In the US, public sector customers are not eligible for this offer.
  • FY23 Surface+ Offer for Japan Customers is a thru distributor offer and is valid only for eligible devices acquired by eligible end customers via a qualifying purchase or qualifying lease or DaaS transactions.

How does a customer qualify?

  • Qualification criteria can be found in the Offer Terms and Conditions, located above.

How do I get a claim code?

  • A claim code may be requested by a Customer, Reseller (with authorization of the Customer), or Microsoft Representative prior to a qualified device purchase or qualifying device lease or DaaS transaction, as applicable, by emailing the Customer’s name and Microsoft TPID (if available) to srfcplus@microsoft.com.
    • For the FY23 Surface+ Offer AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Customers Offer:
      The Customer should be directed to contact their Microsoft Sales Representative for a claim code.
    • All other offers:
      Resellers must obtain a valid Claim Code from the End Customer and validate with Microsoft that the End Customer has a valid claim code before offering any discounts funded through the Surface+ Offer. Partners can contact srfcplus@microsoft.com to validate the End Customer’s claim code.

How many devices may a customer claim?

  • For Customers who are eligible with Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 services there is a limit of one rebate per license seat.
  • Customers who are eligible with an Azure Commitment or Consumed Revenue are eligible to claim up to 10,000 units.
  • The number of rebates a Customer is eligible to claim will be provided when a claim code is requested from srfcplus@microsoft.com.

How do we submit a rebate claim?

  • For the FY23 Surface+ Offer for AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Customers Offer:
    • The End Customer must visit aka.ms/FY23surfaceplusoffer/DTCClaim or navigate directly to the Surface+ Offer Claim Submission page within 60 days of qualified device purchase.
    • Enter Company Name
    • Enter Contact Name (Point of contact who Microsoft can contact for payment details)
    • Enter Contact Email (must be a direct email address; cannot be an alias)
    • Enter Claim Code (valid claim code is required to submit the rebate claim)
    • Upload Proof of Execution (must be the end customer invoice(s)); for multiple files users may upload .zip files
    • After all fields are complete click “Submit”
    • End Customer will receive a confirmation email verifying the submission
  • For the FY23 Surface+ Offer for AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Leasing/DaaS Customers Offer:
    • Partner must visit aka.ms/FY23surfaceplusoffer/DTCLeaseClaim or navigatge directly to the Surface+ Offer Claim Submission page within 60 days of the customer’s qualifeid device lease/DaaS transaction.
    • Enter Partner Name
    • Enter MPN ID

    • Upload Proof of Execution and Appendix B for leasing/Daas transactions
    • After all fields are complete click “Submit”
    • You will receive a confirmation email verifying the submission

  • Japan Offer:

    • Enter Distributor Name
    • Leave MPN ID field blank
    • Enter Contact Name (Point of contact who Microsoft can contact for payment details)
    • Enter Claim Code (valid claim code is required to submit the rebate claim)
    • Upload Proof of Execution (and Appendix B for leasing or DaaS transactions, as applicable)
    • After all fields are complete click “Submit”
    • You will receive a confirmation email verifying the submission

What is Proof of Execution?

  • Proof of Execution is required by Microsoft in order to issue a rebate payment. Proof of Execution must be the order invoice for the Qualified Devices for which you are submitting a rebate claim. Proof of Execution cannot be a Purchase Order (PO) or an Excel file.
  • Valid Proof of Execution must contain the following:
    • End Customer Name
    • Date of Purchase
    • Description of devices purchased (including device specifications)
    • Quantity of devices purchased
  • For leasing or DaaS transactions Proof of Performance must also be submitted. Please refer to the applicable Terms and Conditions mentioned above, Section 3. Detailed Eligibility Criteria, Rebate Activities / Documentation.

What happens after I submit the rebate claim and Proof of Execution?

  • After submitting your rebate claim you will receive a confirmation email confirming the submission has been completed. Your claim code and Proof of Execution will be verified, and, if your claim is valid, your rebate will be calculated, in local currency according to the exchange rate table in the Terms and Conditions, and a second confirmation email from the Surface+ Offer Team verifying the number of devices claimed and the rebate total will be sent.
  • The point of contact will then be invited, via email, to complete a Payee Profile on the Microsoft Payment Central application. This is a secure application where you will choose the method of payment (ACH or check) and provide relevant banking details. This step must be completed as soon as possible for Microsoft to issue the rebate payment.
  • After completing the Payee Profile, the payment should be received within 60-90 days.

When will the Customer/Partner receive their rebate payment after submitting a valid rebate claim on the Surface+ Offer site?

  • We process approved rebate claims as quickly as possible. Only after the Payee Profile is completed will Microsoft issue the rebate payment. This process may take up to 60-90 days.

What is Microsoft Payment Central?

  • Participant will be invited by Microsoft to a secure site for submitting banking details.  Valid banking details are required for Microsoft to pay Participant rebate payments under this program.  Failure to submit or correct banking details after the third notification will result in the rebate claim being cancelled and the rebate payment will be forfeited.  The recipient nominated in the banking details must be a company.  The company name must be the same as the name of the Participant making a claim under the Surface+ Offer Program(s).  Registration with personal banking details instead of company banking details will result in the rebate claim being rejected.

Can we check the progress of our rebate?

How does a Microsoft Partner offer the rebate to its customers?

  • For the FY23 Surface+ Offer AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Customers Offer:
    • Customer takes responsibility for claiming the rebate. They negotiate the purchase price normally and place their order. After the order is placed (and within 60 days) the customer will then submit the claim for the rebate at aka.ms/FY23surfaceplusoffer/DTCClaim.
  • All other Offers:
    • Partners should build the value of the rebate into their quote to the customer as an upfront discount. The Partner will recoup this discount on the back end by claiming the rebate within 60 days of the qualifying sale.
  • Japan Offer:
    • Distributor should build the value of the rebate into their quote to the Reseller and the Reseller will present this pricing as an upfront discount to the Customer.  The Distributor will recoup this discount on the back end by claiming the rebate within 60 days of the qualifying sale.

How often is the eligibility list updated?

  • The Program aims to update the eligibility list monthly. To verify customer eligibility please email srfcplus@microsoft.com.

What products are eligible for a rebate?

  • Please view the Program Summary section of the applicable Terms & Conditions to view product eligibility.

Are the offers stackable with other offers from Microsoft?

  • This offer may be stackable with Bid Grid, Special Pricing, and Deal Registration pricing programs. Please note that all the foregoing pricing programs are calculated using a percentage of the MSRP of each Eligible Product. The Programs are not combinable with the Modern Work with Surface Program for Small Business Microsoft Customers – Worldwide and are not stackable with each other or other promotions or offers from Microsoft.

My customer is eligible for multiple rebates, can I stack the $20, $30, or $50 rebates? (i.e. I have a customer who owns Dynamics 365 and M365 E5 eligible SKUs, can they receive two rebates per Surface device?)

  • No. There is a limit of one discount per eligible Surface device. Microsoft will automatically apply the highest qualifying rebate amount, up to the number of eligible rebates available, to the rebate claim(s) submitted by the Customer/Partner.

Where can I find the per unit rebate amounts?

Are renewals and new customers eligible?

  • Yes.

Are customers who purchased their licenses via CSP eligible?

  • Yes. Please contact your Microsoft representative and ask them to provide CSP details to the Surface+ Team at srfcplus@microsoft.com to verify eligibility and receive a claim code.

Do qualifying purchases need to be direct through Partner and/or are indirect through Partner purchases be eligible?

  • FY23 Surface+ Offer AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Customers Offer: Direct and indirect purchases are eligible for the offer. Customers claim directly for their rebate.
  • All other Offers: Thru Partner only.

When will my customer show as eligible for the Surface+ Offer?

  • Data used to verify Surface+ Offer eligibility updates between the 15th – 18th of each month. For example, if a customer makes a Qualifying Service Purchase in August, they should show as eligible by September 18th.

May a customer aggregate Qualifying Surface Device Purchases to meet the initial 50-unit minimum order quantity?

  • Yes, for Qualifying Surface Device Purchases Customers may aggregate purchases of the applicable Surface SKUs made over a 30-day period to meet the initial 50-unit minimum order quantity.
  • Not applicable for leasing or DaaS transactions.

Are leasing and DaaS transactions eligible for the Surface+ Offer?

  • Leasing transactions are eligible for all offers, excluding the FY23 Surface+ Offer AU, CA, NZ, UK, US Microsoft Customers Offer, provided the Authorized Device Reseller (“ADR”) or Distributor Managed Partner (“DMP”) is authorized by Microsoft pursuant to a Microsoft channel agreement to purchase the applicable Eligible Surface Products for onward distribution directly to Customers within the Territory via a device leasing or DaaS program.
  • Rebate claims for leasing transactions must also include Proof of Performance with their Proof of Execution documents.

We missed the 60-day rebate claim period. Is there an exception or escalation process?

  • No. Microsoft cannot grant exceptions for rebate claims that fall outside the offer Terms and Conditions.

May a customer claim the rebate for a prior device purchase?

  • No, Microsoft can only honor rebate claims for customers who requested a claim code prior to the applicable device purchase.
